About

I'm Gautam Gogoi. I write about using AI as a reasoning partner in data analysis — not as a faster way to write SQL.

I've spent most of my career in analytics and data science: 9+ years at Amazon, across customer behaviour analytics in Bangalore, marketing measurement for Amazon Business Payments, and business intelligence for Operations Compliance in London. Before that, customer analytics consulting at Accenture, and an engineering start at TCS. IIT Kharagpur MBA in between.

The thread running through it all is causal measurement and propensity modelling — A/B tests when you can run them, observational methods when you can't, getting honestly to did this actually work.

What I'm focused on now: what AI changes for experienced data analysts. Not prompting tricks, not "ChatGPT for SQL" demos — the methodology shift. Most current AI-for-analyst content is too shallow; it teaches people to use AI as a faster way to do what they already do. I think there's something deeper available — treating AI as a reasoning partner from the start of analysis, not just a code generator at the end. I'm working that out mostly by doing it on real problems and writing about what I learn.

This site is the long-form home for that work. Companion to my LinkedIn posts — same ideas, with the code, examples, and validation walkthroughs that don't fit in 1,500 characters.
